Ellen Pompeo revealed that the comments she made about the 65th annual Emmys in an interview yesterday were actually made off the record, but she stands by them nonetheless.
During an appearance on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live on Monday night, the Grey’s Anatomy star said she had actually made the comments on an elevator walking into the interview and her team was looking into the legalities of it.
She gave the interview to USA Today, saying, "I didn't see any diversity in the Emmys at all. The Emmys felt so dated to me. That dance number was embarrassing. Did you see one person of color in that dance number?"
She then said about her ABC show, “I'm extremely proud of our very, very diverse cast which represents the world that I walk around in every day.”
Huffington Post notes she also talked about her former Grey’s star, Katherine Heigl on the show, saying she has her own show on NBC coming out next fall.
