Elton John will perform at the Emmy Awards later this month, where he will pay tribute to Liberace. This marks the first time John will perform at the event.

The HBO Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra, is up for 15 Emmy Awards. John will also present alongside its stars, Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, during the show.

According to E! Online, John’s performance at television’s biggest night of the year will take place just a couple of days before his first album in seven years, The Diving Board, comes out.

How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris will host the Emmys for the second time come Sept. 22. It airs live from the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live on CBS.

American Horror Story leads with the most nominations with 17, and Game of Thrones trails right behind with 16.

Kerry Washington and Diahann Carroll will also present, as well as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and sisters Zooey and Emily Deschanel.
