Erik Spoelstra had one year left on his contract with the Miami Heat when he signed a multi-year deal, keeping him where he is.
According to the Sun Sentinel the terms of the deal were not announced. The Heat do not officially reveal terms of agreements with coaches or members of the front office.
CBS Sports reports that Spoelstra is 260-134 all time with the Heat and 170- 60 since Chris Bosh and Lebron James came to join Dwayne Wade in Miami.
Spoelstra has been a part of the Heat organization for about 20 years now, starting as a video coordinator then moving up to assistant coach, and finally to head coach when Pat Riley became the Heat General Manager in 2008.
"I want Spo here for a long, long time," Pat Riley, now president of the Heat said last season.
It really wasn't much of a decision for the Heat to keep Spoelstra around, being that he has been so consistent with Heat teams that have had different looks and keeping the star talent he now has under control. Along with all of that, he is only 42 years old.
