After months of speculation, Fox News has finally set its primetime lineup, which is welcoming a new face: Megyn Kelly. The popular afternoon anchor is moving to 9 p.m. once she comes back from maternity leave. The new lineup debuts on Oct. 7.
Fox News announced back in July that Kelly was moving to primetime when she comes back, but let speculation run wild by not announcing what time slot she would take. Today, the network said that it will push Greta Van Susteren's On The Record to 7 p.m. and Kelly’s The Kelly File will take the 9 p.m. hour.
Bill O’Reilly will keep the 8 p.m. slot, while Sean Hannity will move to 10 p.m.
“As the network continues to dominate with the top 13 programs in cable news, Fox News already redefined primetime viewing to extend well beyond the antiquated 8-11PM format,” Fox News CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement, notes MediaBistro. “We’ve developed a deep bench of engaging and thought-provoking personalities that have grown with Fox News as it has evolved into the most influential and successful cable network in television.”
“I am very happy to be moving to 10PM,” Hannity said, reports Mediate. “The ability to be live or on tape greatly increases the flexibility of the show and offers me, after 17 years, the opportunity to be home at night with my family.”
Van Susteren can take the 7 p.m. slot since Shepard Smith is moving to 3 p.m. Smith will host Shepard Smith Reporting.
The new schedule is:
7 pm: On The Record
8 pm: The O’Reilly Factor
9 pm: The Kelly File
10 pm: Hannity
