FX said today that the police drama The Bridge, starring Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir, will return for a second season.

The network said on the show’s Twitter page that it will return next summer. The Bridge had earned a straight-to-series order back in February and is produced by FX and Shine America. It is based on a Scandinavian series and centers on American and Mexican detectives working together to find a serial killer who has murdered on both sides of the border.

“We’ve been blown away by the compelling performances of Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger and the writing of Meredith Stiehm, Elwood Reid and their team, and are thrilled to be able to continue this journey for another season,” FX president of original programming Eric Schrier said in a statement, notes THR. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with Rich Ross, Carolyn Bernstein and everyone at Shine America.”

The Bridge premiered on July 10 and has averaged 5.07 million viewers, according to Nielsen Live+Seven Day statistics. The show has averaged 3.65 million live viewers and 1.68 million in the 18-49 demographic.
