CW’s breakout show Arrow has officially cast Glee star Grant Gustin to assume the role of Dr. Barry Allen a.k.a. the Flash.

With the success of the first season of Arrow, this could mean a potential spinoff for Gustin and he appears in episodes eight, nine and twenty of the show’s second season. Many celebrities have taken to their social media sites to wish Gustin luck, including Colton Haynes of Teen Wolf and Arrow fame on his Twitter. The show’s star lead Stephen Amell even came out to support Grant in his new role.

According to initial reports from The Hollywood Reporter, Gustin’s role as the Flash will be first introduced as just a regular guy working as a forensic scientist. They also note that while the series does not traditionally focus on people with superpower this will be considered an exception. This prompts the question that E! Online is asking – will there be a potential spinoff in store for Gustin?

There’s good news for fans of the comic book as well. There are rumors that DC Comics Chief Creative Offer are set to cowrite the initial episodes of Arrow in which Dr. Barry Allen are set to appear.
