One Direction’s Harry Styles is speaking out about the popular dance movie “twerking” saying the Miley Cyrus inspired dance craze is “inappropriate.”

Styles weighed in on ‘twerking’ during an interview with Moviefone where he, alongside his band mates Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson, were on hand to promote their film One Direction: This is Us.

"I think it's quite inappropriate," Styles noted of twerking. "Especially for the age groups that it's aimed at." The boys were asked if they ever worry about the young ages of their own fans, to which Styles responded, "When they're twerking, yes. I think it's, you know, promoting promiscuity."

Cyrus’ twerking became especially prominent following her sexualized performance at the MTV Video Music Awards with “Blurred Lines” singer Robin Thicke. Cyrus was both praised and criticized by fans and celebs for wearing a tiny tan bikini as she paraded around grinding on Thicke, Teddy Bears and gyrating on a foam finger. Shortly after the performance ’twerk’ was even added to the dictionary.
