The winner of the 23rd first annual IG Nobel Prize (not to be confused with its more prestigious cousin The Nobel Prize) was an alcohol attractiveness study, proving once again that the theory of "beer goggles” rings true among all bar patrons.
The gala occurred at Harvard’s Sanders Theatre on September 12. The purpose of the IG Nobel Prize is to “make people laugh, then think” as they combine humor and scientific research. The Alcohol Attractiveness Study took the main prize according to BBC News. The victorious research team had a mere 60 seconds to make a complete acceptance speech before they were heckled offstage by a child, as apparently tradition dictates within the ceremony.
The study itself proved that the more alcoholic drinks consumed by an individual, the more attractive the person thought they were. However, when asked to be rated by a sober judge the results were a little different, needless to say. So next time you go to a bar just remember that beer goggles exist (at least on yourself).
