Fans can expect tributes to be played for fallen actors James Gandolfini of The Sopranos fame and Cory Monteith of Glee at this year’s Primetime Emmys.
The In Memoriam segment of Sunday’s broadcast will pay special attention to not only Gandolfini, who died in June at the age of 51, and Monteith, who died of an accidental overdose of heroin and alcohol in July at the age of 31, but also Gary David Goldberg, Jean Stapleton and Jonathan Winters.
Executive producer Ken Ehrlich said in a statement about the segment, "These five individuals brought us such great entertainment and joy, so having their close friends share personal remembrances is something that will be very meaningful for television audiences across the country and across the generations,” E! Online reports.
He added, “And, our traditional In Memoriam segment will be presented in a unique new format that will give added importance to an already much anticipated segment of the Emmy show."
Those who got to work closely with the fallen actors, such as Edie Falco who worked with Gandolfini on The Sopranos, and Jane Lynch, who worked with Monteith on Glee, will lend a hand.
The Emmys will air live on CBS on Sunday.
