Although many Bat-fans are still cringing at the thought of Batman playing the caped crusader in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman, Affleck’s wife Jennifer Garner is raving over her husband’s new casting role saying she’s “excited to watch him do it.”

E! News reports that the Juno actress opened up about the news at the Toronto Film Festival, telling MTV News, “I was excited for him. I was excited because he had a real take on what he wanted to do, and you know, I have to say, my husband is a pretty great storyteller himself, and I'm excited to watch him do it."

The future caped-crusader also opened up about his (what is now a) controversial role. Affleck appeared Monday night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon where he addressed the rage against his playing the iconic superhero.

"I'm a big boy,” he joked. “If I can handle an Oscar snub, I can handle anything,"

Affleck noted his own reservations in taking the role saying, “I thought, 'I'm not 25 man and are you sure about this?' And they said, 'Come down, we want to show you what we're doing,' and it was incredible."

Batman vs. Superman is slated to hit theaters July 17, 2015.
