Netflix’s House of Cards gained a significant boost after receiving nine Emmy nominations and now its team is getting a high-profile addition. Oscar winning actress Jodie Foster has signed on to direct an episode.
Vulture first reported this afternoon that Foster will direct at least one episode of the show’s second season. Netflix would not comment on the story, but sources for Vulture said that she is already working with the crew on location in Baltimore.
As TheWrap notes, Foster already has a relationship with Netflix. She directed an episode of the streaming service’s other original series, Orange is the New Black.
Foster also has another connection to House of Cards - one of the show’s executive producers is her Panic Room director, David Fincher.
Foster recently acted in Elysium and has directed three films - Little Man Tate (1991), Home for the Holidays (1995) and The Beaver (2011). Her first directing gig came in 1988 for an episode of HBO’s Tales from the Dark Side.
House of Cards stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. Netflix has not announced when season two will be available.
