Now that Joy Behar has officially left ABC’s The View, she’s free to talk about the trouble she’s gotten in over the years. She even claims she almost got fired by Barbara Walters seven years ago.
She recalled that Walters planned on making a big announcement at the Primetime Emmy Awards that Rosie O’Donnell would be joining the cast of the show. However, when Behar accidentally let it slip to Entertainment Tonight, Walters was furious.
She said she got a phone call from Walters herself saying "Hello, Joy? It’s Barbara. And I just want you to know I’m not renewing your contract,” Us Weekly reports.
Despite multiple attempts to apologize, Walters didn’t want to hear it. "It was a big mistake! I'm not renewing your contract!" she remembered her saying.
They eventually hashed out their issues, and Behar went on to appear on the show for another seven years after that and left the show in August on her own terms.
"I got in trouble a lot. I mean, people don't know how much trouble I got into," she revealed.
Meanwhile, Huffington Post notes Walters will be leaving the show herself next year, as she’s set to retire in 2014.
Only Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and newbie Jenny McCarthy will be left.
