Back on July 19, Kanye West attacked a paparazzo at Los Angeles International Airport, and now he is suffering the consequences. The rapper was charged with misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft on Friday.
TMZ reports that West warned paparazzi a few days prior to the attack not to talk to him. When photographer Daniel Ramos argued with him as he left the airport, West took him down.
Ramos, who is allegedely injured after the incident, filed a lawsuit for assault, battery, negligence and violation of civil rights against the “Heartless” singer in August.
The photographer claims that he did not instigate West in any way. "I told him twice, 'I don't want to fight you,” Ramos said, according to NBC"However, he attacked me anyway."
The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office reports that West was charged with two misdemeanors – one count of battery and one count of grand theft, resulting in a maximum of one year of jail time. His arraignment is scheduled for October 10.
LAX is a popular spot for West to get into scuffles with paparazzi. Back in 2008, he was arrested with felony vandalism charges after breaking two men's cameras. Then, his punishment was 12 hours of anger management and 50 hours of community service.
