Kanye West is once again comparing himself to a world icon – this time it’s Michael Jackson. The new father to baby North West told Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1’s radio show.
The Yeezus rapper, 36, told Lowe that he is the “No .1 rock star on the planet.”
“Rap is the new rock 'n' roll," he said, adding, “We the new rock stars, and I'm the biggest of all of them. I'm the No. 1 rock star on the planet."
West, who has previously compared himself to Steve Jobs and NBA legend Michael Jordan, also said, "I would not be Kanye West if it wasn't for Michael Jackson. I was able to ascend to massive heights. And I've got to a point that Michael Jackson did not break down. I have reached the glass ceiling, as a creative person, as a celebrity and I've been at it for 10 years."
According to Daily News, West’s statements come in a 15-minute YouTube video Lowe posted, which is part of an hour-long sit down with the rapper. He also compares himself to Jay-Z, saying the Magna Carta Holy Grail rapper is “more realized than me.”
He continued of his friend and Watch the Throne collaborator, "More of his dreams and aspirations have come true. You don't realize I am so frustrated. Like, I've got so much I want to give. ... And I've got a million people telling me why I can't do it."
