Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, who host the fourth hour of NBC’s Today Show, have a new gig. The wine-drinking duo will write a column for the New York Daily News.

Today.com notes that the column will give readers a chance to check out their thoughts on pop culture, food, fashion and current events without watching the show. The news was announced on Today this morning and in the Daily News, as well.

“We'd like to say 'yay!', with lots of exclamation points, because...” Hoda started.

“Because civilization has now come to an end,” Gifford said, finishing Kotb’s sentence. “We are — Hoda and myself — columnists.”

Gifford joked that the move would be bad for the Daily News, calling it a “big mistake” for the paper. The column will also include plenty of jokes, which worries Gifford, since some people might take it seriously. “So if you read something that's offensive, just remember it was a joke,” she said.

According to The Associated Press, the first column will appear in Thursday’s edition of the Daily News.

Before joining Today, Gifford was known for co-hosting Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee with Regis Philbin. Kotb has been on NBC’s Dateline newsmagazine since 1998 and began co-hosting the fourth hour of Today with Gifford in 2008.
