Katie Couric is revealing intimate details of her engagement to John Molnar. The longtime television personality, 56, said she was “confused” when Molnar, 50, got down on one knee.

"He said that there was a reason he'd brought me there to the beach, and that he loved me and was committed to me, and I said, 'Yeah, I know that, you didn't have to bring me here to tell me that,'” she told People in their cover story titled “I found love again!”

She admitted when he did get down on one knee at the East Hampton beach they were at, "It took me a while to say yes, because I was so confused! It took a long time for my brain to process what was going on."

Since losing her first husband and father of her two daughters (Ellie, 21, and Carrie, 17), Jay Monahan, to colon cancer in 1998, Couric knew she would eventually want to get married again. When she was ready, she said she perused a meaningful relationship but often they didn’t go anywhere.

"I knew that I wanted this," she said. "I made it a priority, and I pursued it with some purpose."

Peopel notes in 2011, she said, "When the girls were really little, I always imagined I would be modern-day Carol Brady.”

NY Daily News notes the couple went public with their relationship in April of last year.
