It's not uncommon for celebrities to do maternity themed magazine spreads, but this Keeping Up with the Kardashians star's photoshoot definitely sets it self apart from the rest.
Photographed by the renowned Chanel designer Karl Lagerfield, this shoot gives a glimpse into an edgier side of Kim than we've seen before, landing the cover of the CR Fashion Book where she is photographed donning gold grills--not the typical avant-garde look you might expect to see.
In subsequent photographs, Kim is shown with what appears to be red jam, but what is actually red Chanel lipstick,smeared around her lips as she sits innocently in a white couture dress and checked pink cardigan with her finger in a jar of jam. She is also shown in a black t-shirt with an American flag, black Yankees cap with a black veil over her face as she clutches her very pregnant belly, and with silk black pants, and open jacket, revealing her pregnant stomach in its entirety.
Having already received backlash after switching over from her usual sexy, sensual style to a more high-fashion look since beginning her relationship with Kanye West, Yahoo! speculates as to whether this shoot in the haute couture CR Fashion Book proves the star has finally been accepted into the high fashion world.
Since the birth of baby North, the star has kept a low-profile, quoted by the NY Daily News saying "I'm enjoying this time to fully embrace motherhood and spend time at home with my family. I am so blessed to have the support of my family and fans in this beautiful moment."
