Demarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings agree to a 4-year $62 million deal.
With this deal, The 23-year old center joins fellow 2010 draft classmates John Wall, Larry Sanders, and Paul George to receive extensions before the deadline. Cousins will be with the Kings through 2017-2018 unconditionally, with no team or player options. According to Sports Illustrated the deal will begin in the 2014-2015 season and Cousins will make $4.9 million in the last year of his rookie contract.
Cousins averaged 17.1 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game last season. However, Cousins has had his problems defensively throughout his career. ESPN reports that Cousins has lead the league or at least been close in fouls committed. He also led the league last year in technical fouls with 15.
Cousins has been suspended multiple times during his career. The Kings have recently introduced Shaquille O'Neal as a minority owner of the team, possibly hoping that Shaq can mentor Cousins and help out with his disciplinary issues.
