Actress Leah Remini stopped by the season 11 premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show where she discussed her widely publicized decision to leave the Church of Scientology. During her sit down with Ellen, Remini revealed that she has lost friends since leaving the church.

"We lost friends who can no longer talk to us who are still in the organization," she explained as quoted by New York Daily News. “But we have other friends, who are not in the church, who have stood by us and that's all we can ask for.”

As the Daily News notes, the 43-year-old actress did not go into details as to why she opted to leave the controversial church in July.
Speculation arose that Remini did not agree with the leader’s stance that she could not speak to some of her family members whom he deemed a “suppressive person.”

“My mother got involved when we were very young, so it's all we really knew,” Remini explained of when she became a Scientologist. “"But over time, my eyes got opened and I could just no longer be affiliated with the organization, and my family felt the same, so we left."

In August, Remin revealed her intentions to publish a meoir about her experiences in the Church of Scientology.
