Michael Douglas is speaking out about the recent revelation that he and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, are taking a break from their nearly 13-year marriage.
Zeta-Jones’ rep confirmed separation rumors, saying, “Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage.”
The Behind the Candelabra star was in Berlin and commented on the state of his marriage, saying “I have a crisis at home? No, I think the press has a crisis. We are fine. My wife and I are fine."
He went on to call it a "temporary separation,” adding, "But the press, it give you stuff to write about,” USA Today reports.
Douglas and Zeta-Jones, who got married in 2000, have two kids together; Dylan, 13 and Carys, 10.
“The stress has taken a toll on their marriage,” said an insider about Douglas’ throat cancer and Zeta-Jones’s bipolar II disorder. The insider maintained, “They want the best for their kids , no matter what happens.”
