Michigan state walk-on wide receiver, Matt Macksood, contributed in Saturday's game against Notre Dame by blocking a punt.
Matt Macksood played for Lansing Catholic Central High School in Michigan and received all-state honors twice. He walked on to Michigan State's team and is making an impact this year as a redshirt freshman.
According to M Live, Macksood blocked a punt by Notre Dame's Kyle Brindza off a high snap. Macksood's play led to a favorable field position for Michigan State, but they couldn't pull off the win. The Spartans lost 14-17 to the Fighting Irish.
However, Macksood's block marks the first punt block for Notre Dame since 2008. The Fighting Irish went 254 straight punts without being blocked.
This isn't the first noticeable contribution that Macksood has made this season. In Michigan State's victory over Youngstown State last week, Macksood received an 8-yard pass from Tyler O'Connor in the final minutes of the game. They won 55-17.
Macksood tweeted, "It's crazy when you can see your dreams as a little kid actually turn into reality..God is great. #GoState."
