Harvey Weinstein recently revealed that Kristen Stewart helped raise $500,00 toward Hurricane Sandy relief efforts simply by meeting with a Middle Eastern prince for 15 minutes.
While in Toronto for the Toronto International Film Festival, Weinstein recalls presented Stewart with the proposal.
Weinstein said he had to convince the Twilight Saga star that if she would speak with the prince, he would make a large contribution to relief efforts.
“How much?” he remembers her asking, NY Times reports. Weinstein said he then asked the prince the question himself and after a little negotiating, they agreed on $500,000.
He shelled out the money before their meeting, “and Kristen sits with the guy for 15 minutes” at Madison Square Garden, where the benefit concert he orchestrated would later be held.
Us Weekly notes Weinstein’s Hurricane Sandy benefit raised $30 million, with the help of Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, and more.
The benefit concert film 12.12.12 screened at the TIFF on Sunday.
