In an interview with Civilta Cattolica, Pope Francis stated that he believes the Catholic Church should balance itself with its priorities - that gay marriage, abortion and contraception should not always be the topic of debate.
Pope Francis is the first Jesuit to hold the Papal office. ABC News notes that throughout his Papacy, Francis has been seen as quite benevolent as he insists that all people should be treated equally despite their actions being considered dishonorable.
Within his six months as Pope, Francis has attempted to bring good faith back to the Catholic Church, as he remains focused on those who need the most help – the disenfranchised, poor or discriminated. According to statements released by NBC News, Francis stated that if the Church does not diversify itself with the Gospel message it is intended to spread, then “the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards.”
These statements come with no surprise to those who have been following Francis since his inauguration. He has already been remarked as a merciful Pope that will hopefully put some simplicity behind the Catholic Church.
