Before this summer, R&B singer Robin Thicke was just an extremely handsome and soulful singer. Since his explosive summer hit “Blurred Lines,” however, he seems to a staple in the center of controversy. So are recent photos painting him as a family man sincere moments caught on camera, or well received advice from his publicist?
The 36-year-old father posted a photo on Instagram Friday while vacationing with his family in Florida. On a boat with wife Paula Patton and their 3-year-old son Julian, the photo was captioned, “Family Vaca!”
According to E! News, Thicke was seen and photographed getting touchy with a female fan (now identified as Lana Scolaro). A mirror behind them reveals the singers hand was placed on Scolaro’s behind.
Thicke was already in the headlines following his raunchy, hypersexual performance with Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards August 25th. Patton attended the award show and maintains that she knew the performance would be risqué. According to TMZ, Patton had no quips about Cyrus and Thicke’s onstage touching and neck kissing.
In the video for “Blurred Lines,” which premiered earlier this summer, the singer parades around with naked models singing, “I know you want it.” The song was slammed by multiple women’s rights groups for suggestively supporting rape. Thicke’s response? He told GQ magazine, “"What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman," he said. "I've never gotten to do that before." He continued, saying “lately, I've just wanted to have fun and enjoy my life, really appreciate all the great things that I have, like a great wife, a great child, and a great career. That shows up in the music with more humor and light-heartedness.” Thicke’s recent public appearances may not show it, but he seems to genuinely love and care for his family.
