It turns out that NFL football fans are also tired of seeing Ryan Seacrest everywhere, especially at the season opener in Denver. The fans at Sports Authority Stadium just wanted to watch Peyton Manning and the rest of the Broncos play, not have to listen to the American Idol host telling them why they should be excited. They already know that.
Seacrest, who is hosting NBC’s Million Second Quiz, was clearly booed by the crowd as he came out to tell fans that “America is ready for 17 weeks of excitement.” Yes, really...they apparently needed to be told this.
When he came out, he actually said, “I only know of one other countdown that might be as big as this one,” clearly plugging New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. (Which actually airs on ABC, so NBC executives might not have been too happy with this.)
As USA Today notes, Seacrest’s intro was followed by a bizarre parade of NFL legends that were supposed to represent all 32 teams. The game was also delayed by lightning and a rain storm.
Seacrest appeared completely undaunted by the fans. Just before the game, he tweeted:
Working the NFL season opener! Finally those 2-a-days paid off. I hope my high school coach is watching. #Kickoff2013

Also, for anyone who watches NBC (who does that?), get ready for an onslaught of Seacrest. For the next two weeks, Million Second Quiz airs almost every night. According to THR, NBCUniversal will be pushing MSQ across every platform imaginable, with commercials airing even on its USA Network. NBC is hoping that MSQ will give the network a ratings boost just before The Voice and the rest of the 2013-2014 TV season kicks off, starting on Sept. 23.
