After a terrible start, the Seahawks pulled off some late-game heroics on Sunday, winning on a Steven Hauschka field goal in overtime.
The Seahawks were down 20-6 with eight minutes to go, but mounted a comeback to win 23-20 and remain undefeated at 4-0. Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman picked off Matt Schaub and ran it back 58 yards for a score, turning things around in the fourth quarter. According to USA Today, this was Matt Schaub's third game in a row where he threw a pick six, and this one tied the game up late in the fourth.
Seattle PI reports that Houston was in control for most of the game on offense and defense. They outgained the Seahawks 476 yards to 270 and held QB Russell Wilson to just 91 passing yards. Despite coming out extremely flat, Seattle wouldn't let this one go that easy.
“We gotta go out there and prove it, man, and that’s what this game was all about. That’s what the whole of football is all about,” said defensive tackle Clinton McDonald. “It’s about fellowship and it’s about brotherhood. It’s about the memories that you’re making in this life.”
The Seahawks were relentless and rallied back, scoring 17 unanswered points, sending the game into overtime and eventually winning.
