How does the 53-year-old X Factor mentor see his future now, after learning he is expecting his first child with girlfriend Lauren Silverman? In a radio interview, Tuesday Sept. 23, with longtime pal, Ryan Seacrest, Cowell opened up about his family and the future.
"I genuinely never thought [me being a Dad] was going to happen," Cowell admitted to Seacrest. "Partly because I was scared of who I was going to have kids with . . . [but] Lauren and I get along really well and once I got used to the idea I thought, 'I think this is going to be very good.'"
According to Us Weekly, the couple’s relationship began when the NYC socialite was still married to Cowell’s friend, Andrew Silverman. It was reported in July that Cowell and Silverman were expecting, causing the 10 year marriage between Lauren and Andrew Silverman to end.
Cowell indicated in the interview with Seacrest that he does intend to marry Silverman. He said, “Let’s put it this way, I wouldn’t expect her to be a single mother.”
Cowell sounded pretty content as he gushed about his love Silverman, their baby, and their future together as a family.
