On this Tuesday night’s episode of The Colbert Report, Steven interviewed Timothy Cardinal Dolan, learned about a district and discussed chemical weapons in Syria.
On Steven’s two-week break, he went to Italy. To start off the episode, he discussed the chemical weapons in Syria. He said that he tried to keep up on the news but had such a language barrier that he thought that President Obama dropped Miley Cyrus onto Damascus. Steven touched on the Syrian crisis but noted that it was a developing topic and would report on it when there was more information.
Next, Steven dressed up like a motorist (complete with the scarf, goggles and hat) and lead into his “better know a district” series, to report on Michigan’s fifth district and Congressman Dan Kildee. The fifth district is home to the city of Flint and was the district where General Motors was started.
While interviewing Congressman Kildee, Steven asked if he could ‘vogue’ him because Madonna is from Michigan. When the congressman accepted, Steven danced around him. They also discussed how Congressman Dan Kildee replaced his uncle Dale Kildee as the district’s congressman. According to Dan, none of the citizens compare the two.
Congressman Dan Kildee is a supporter of the second amendment. And, when Steven asked him, he admitted that he doesn’t carry a gun. Hearing that, Steven pretended to steal his wallet with a knife to prove the point that he needed to carry around a gun. Steven finally got the congressman’s wallet but didn’t give it back because they “ran out of time.”
Steven interviewed the tenth archbishop of New York, Timothy Cardinal Dolan as the guest. The archbishop is also the president of US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Dolan wrote an eBook titled ‘Praying in Rome: Reflections on the Conclave and Electing Pope Francis.’ The book discusses how the Holy Spirit had already chosen the new Pope but Dolan, among others, had to figure out whom He had chosen.
