A boy’s parents are holding three Dallas Cowboys players accountable for their son almost drowning at a football camp over the summer. James Jackson, Jr.’s parents sued wide receiver Miles Austin, defensive end Anthony Spencer and cornerback Brandon Carr, as well as the camp’s organizer, Sports International, for their responsibility in their son’s near-death experience.
According to TMZ, Jackson, Jr. allegedly started to drown and sunk to the bottom of a pool at the football camp at the University of North Texas. After receiving CPR and being rushed to the hospital, the boy recovered but reportedly suffers from mental anguish, disfigurement and physical impairment. The specific injuries are not listed.
Now, the parents are suing the camp and the NFL players for not having adequate lifeguards or other safety measures. They are asking for over one million dollars, reports NBC, to cover the teenager’s suffering and future loss of earning capacity, as well as the cost of the medical bills.
The football camp began on July 11, 2013 and ran for four days. Jackson, Jr. was rushed to the hospital on the first night.
