Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti and Christian Borle have joined the cast of NBC's The Sound of Music.

The three Tony winners join the already cast Stephen Moyer and Carrie Underwood, who are set to play the leads of Capt. Georg von Trapp and Maria.

Los Angeles Times reports that McDonald has been cast as Mother Abbess for the live event. She is a five-time Tony winner.

Benanti was cast as Elsa Schrader, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She won a Tony for Gypsy.

Borle will be playing Max Dettweiler, and has won a Tony for Peter and the Starcatcher and appeared on the show Smash.

The Sound of Music is going to be a three hour event and is based upon the original 1959 Broadway production, which Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel starred. The Tony award-winning play won best musical and best actress.

Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer starred in the 1965 film adaptation, which won five Academy Awards.

NBC's The Sound of Music will be broadcast Dec. 5.
