TNT has decided not to keep its newest crime drama, King & Maxwell, on the air. The network has decided to cancel the series after one season.
King & Maxwell starred Rebecca Romijn and Jon Tenney as former Secret Service agents who become private investigators. The show did draw consistently strong numbers, averaging 3.5 million viewers throughout the season, notes Deadline. The only problem is that number is small compared to TNT’s Major Crimes, which drew 5 million viewers after King & Maxwell.
The series was produced by CBS Television Studios and Shane Brennan Productions, notes THR. Shane Brennan (NCIS: LA) was an executive producer.
TNT has renewed most of its line-up already, with Rizzoli & Isles, Perception, Major Crimes, Dallas and Falling Skies all getting additional seasons. The only show TNT hasn’t made a decision on yet is Franklin & Bash.
THe Turner-owned cable network also has some exciting new shows coming up, including Frank Darabont’s Mob City and The Last Ship, produced by Michael Bay.
For fans of Tenney, he will be seen on TNT again soon, though. TV Line reported that he will direct an episode of Major Crimes and reprise his role as Agent Fritz Howard.
