Fox’s Sleepy Hollow got off to a strong start, which is great news for the network. It is the first new scripted series of the 2013-2014 TV season and the network has every reason to smile. ABC’s Dancing With The Stars also got its new season off the ground with a decent debut.

Bones’ new season kicked off Fox’s night with a 2.2 18-49 rating, reports THR. That was only a very small drop from last season’s premiere, but the big headline is how well Sleepy Hollow did.

The supernatural crime procedural kicked off its freshman season with 10 million viewers and a 3.4 18-49 rating, notes HitFix. That’s one of the strongest premieres for Fox in recent memory, beating last season’s The Following, which scored the best drama premiere for the network. It was also up a whopping 127 percent from Mob Doctor, a show that didn’t even survive past midseason last year.

ABC’s early Nielsen numbers are a bit inflated because of Monday Night Football in the Pittsburgh market, but DWTS kicked off its year with 16.2 million viewers and a 3.2 18-49 rating. That’s a 25 percent jump from last season’s premiere. This year, the show does not take up two nights for ABC, instead with just a single, two-hour Monday episode.

Elsewhere, CBS’ Under The Dome finished its freshman season with 11.84 million viewers and a 2.8 rating in the key demo.
