Considering it premiered without The Voice as a lead-in, the fact that NBC’s Revolution returned down in the ratings on Wednesday was not a surprise. The post-apocalyptic show took a tumble from its freshman season premiere, while Fox’s The X Factor got a much-needed boost.
Overall, it was an off-night for everyone, with CBS needing just 9.89 million viewers to win the night, notes HitFix. The network averaged a 2.4 18-49 rating, behind Fox and ABC in that regard. Survivor started things, falling to a 2.3 18-49 rating and 9.41 million viewers. Criminal Minds had 11.29 million and a 2.8 key demo rating, while CSI had its worst premiere ever. The episode had just a 2.1 18-49 rating and 8.96 million viewers.
ABC was in second with 8.8 million viewers and the best 18-49 average - a 2.8 rating. The network started off with The Middle (8.76 million viewers; 2.4 18-49 rating) and the new Back In The Game, which had 7.8 million viewers and a 2.2 18-49 rating. Modern Family had 11.4 million viewers and a huge 4.1 key demo rating and Nashville premiered with 6.6 million and a 2.1 rating.
NBC was a close third in viewers with 8.6 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating. According to EW, Revolution lost 56 percent of its season 1 premiere audience in the move to Wednesdays. The show had just 6.8 million viewers and a 1.8 18-49 rating. Law & Order: SVU had a surprisingly strong night with 9.5 million viewers and a 2.7 18-49 rating.
TheWrap reports that Fox’s The X Factor jumped to 7.6 million viewers and a 2.5 18-49 rating. That was a 14 percent jump from last week.
