Vanessa Redgrave has been cast in the ABC series The Black Box. Redgrave will co-star with Kelly Reilly.

Black Box is set to be a limited drama series with only 13 episodes, Deadline reports.

The drama is being written by Amy Holden Jones, who wrote The Relic and Mystic Pizza. Simon Curtis has been selected to direct and Jones will also executive produce.

The plan is for The Black Box to hit the air next year on ABC.

According to The Huffington Post, the ABC drama is about Elizabeth (played by Reilly), who quietly struggles with mental illness while appearing to friends and family to have it all.

Redgrave was cast to play Dr. Hartramph, who is Elizabeth's psychiatrist, who knows more than most about Elizabeth's problems.

Redgrave is known for her roles in Lee Daniels' The Butler and Julia. The actress has been on the shows Call The Midwife and Political Animals.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Redgrave has been nominated six times for an Oscar and won for Julia.
