For those waiting on the edge of their seats for the moment Simon Cowell finally sings on X Factor, the wait is over. After nine seasons giving out brutally honest critiques on American Idol and the three on the U.S. version of X Factor, Cowell sang.
However, for those hoping for a serious performance, it likely didn’t live up to what you were hoping for. When contestant Russ Pouliot sang an arguably atrocious rendition of The King's "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You," Lovato told Cowell that if Pouliot had a British accent, that’s what Cowell would sound like when he sang.
The Hollywood Reporter notes the music started up again, of course after Cowell told Pouliot "It sounded like you were drowning,” and he delivered a few lines of the song in a joking fashion, which was more of an imitation of Pouliot than anything else.
X Factor released the teaser clip of Cowell singing back in July, with judges Demi Lovato and Kelly Rowland joking around at his expense. “I think it’s charming, but he wants to be modest about his incredible vocal,” Lovato said to which Rowland added, “I knew that voice was always there.”
