There were five girls left in the dance competition, and this week was going to be a nightmare for them, literally – the dances would be horror themed. To add even more to the fright, the challenge would be technique, which we all know is Abby’s biggest pet peeve.

“Living with these moms is a real nightmare, so it’s perfect,” said Jessalynn.
Jessalynn and JoJo were right to be scared – JoJo was the first girl kicked out of the ballet challenge, but Gianna and Trinity were out next. Out the last two, McKaylee and Kalani, McKaylee was crowned the technique challenge winner. This week, there would be three solos and one duet. So, McKaylee’s prize was to pair the dancers for the duet. After some deliberation, she picked Kalani and JoJo to perform together.

After they were dismissed, Gianna whined to her mom – she wished she was doing a duet instead of a solo. Cindy snapped at her, saying she’ll never make it here if she continues to act like that. Gianna and Cindy weren’t the only mother and daughter on edge with each other. Trinity and Tina were arguing, too. Even more, the moms were attacking each other in the costume room; long time friends Sheryl and Jessalynn got in a big fight. This week really was turning out to be a nightmare!

The competitors were stressing out in the rehearsal for their big dances, too. In the duet, JoJo had to amp up her technique, and Kalani her performance. In McKaylee’s solo, her and her mom were very nervous, as she would be using a flying apparatus on stage. Gianna and Trinity just hoped their technique was strong enough for Abby in their solos.

Everyone was on edge on performance night, especially Trinity who was the first to take the stage. Her solo, entitled “Possession,” featured a prop of a bed and a simple nightdress costume. Through her dancing, Trinity portrayed a girl who becomes possessed in the middle of the night. I thought she blew it away with her phenomenal acting skills, but Abby did not like it. Trinity just didn’t have the technique she was looking for. Richy, however, thought it was “beautiful in an evil, scary way.”

McKaylee’s solo, “Bird of Prey,” was up next. She wore big, black feathered wings on her arms and a harness under her costume – so she could fly on stage! She spun and swung through the air as well as on the floor. Abby thought she “amazing.” And that’s a big compliment coming from Abby! Check out the full dance below.

The duet was the next dance of the night, called “Vampire Attack.” With a bench and lamppost set, JoJo portrayed a vampire, and Kalani her victim. I wasn’t too impressed with this one, because their timing was off in a lot of places. For the first time, Abby wasn’t pleased with Kalani, saying she stepped down to JoJo’s level. Richy thought JoJo was too fast in some parts and too slow in others, which was why they weren’t in sync.

It’s a good think Gianna finished the night off on a good note with her solo, “Zombie Dreams.” After appearing from behind a gravestone, she danced this jazz funk performance with zest and technique. It was the best I’ve ever seen from her! The judges thought she did great, too. Abby remarked, though, that she’s noticed Gianna prefers playing a character to just being herself.

After the judges discussed the performances amongst themselves, the girls were called back out. McKaylee and Gianna were both immediately told they were safe because of their great solos. JoJo was safe too, because she pulled up her technique to Kalani’s level. With Kalani and Trinity in the bottom two, it was Trinity who was sent home. She sobbed on stage until Rachelle stopped her, pulling out her callback card – Trinity was staying after all!

Next time we’ll see which of the five dancers is the biggest star of them all in a diva themed week. Watch it next Tuesday on Lifetime!
