The latest episode of Duck Dynasty aired on A&E Wednesday, but it’s not what the cast members are saying on the show that’s been getting attention this week. They sat down for an interview with Men’s Journal and let their true feelings about the state of our country known.

The Robertson family spoke with the magazine about several topics, from gun control to religion. When it comes to gun control, Si, one of the most popular stars on the show, said, “It ain't gun control we need; it's sin control.”

Phil added, “Self-control.” Si agreed.

According to E! News, the family said that they hope that their fame can be used for good and bringing some wholesomeness to American TV.

“We're trying to infuse a little good into a culture in which gentleness, patience, kindness, self-control, love, joy and peace have become abnormal,” Phil said. “I go out into America and I am literally navigating a minefield. Godliness has become abnormal.”

Season four kicked off to record ratings, earning 11.8 million viewers. Phil insists that the fame hasn’t gone to their heads. After all, before the show, they were just successful owners of Duck Commander.

Phil also had some interesting words for fans. “They walk up with a pair of little bitty, bitty bikini underwear and say, 'Will you sign these?’” he said. “Well, my first question is, 'Are they clean?' But, see, as I move forward on my travels, I make sure I take two things with me, my Bible and my woman, Miss Kay. You see what I'm saying? I've put my heathen days behind me. I'm not going down that path again.”

The Men’s Journal interview came after a video of Phil’s interview with Sports Spectrum TV went viral earlier this month. CBS Houston notes that, in the interview, Phil said that the editors are adding fake bleeps to cut out references to Jesus.
