For the first time in its history, Comedy Central’s South Park will miss its deadline. Thanks to a power outage at the South Park Studios on Tuesday, a new episode will not air tonight.
In a statement posted on the show’s production blog, the South Park team announced that episode 1704, titled “Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers,” will not air as originally planned at 10 p.m. tonight. The outage stopped them from finishing editing and adding sound, as all of their computers went out.
“It sucks to miss an air date but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen,” co-creator Trey Parker said.
“Goth Kids 3” will instead air next Wednesday. So tonight, Comedy Central will air one of the show’s fan-favorite episodes, “Scott Tenorman Must Die,” which will also be live-tweeted.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Goth Kids 3” is the show’s 240th episode. It recently kicked off its 17th season with 4.3 million viewers over three airings of the premiere, a high mark for the show.
Matt Stone and Parker created the show, which is set in a Colorado town where incredibly crazy things happen. South Park Studios is based in Los Angeles.
