ABC is reportedly looking to bring back its crime procedural Body of Proof. Throughout its three seasons, the show, which starred Dana Delany, earned decent ratings, which made the original decision to cancel it surprising. However, now that Lucky 7 is already out of the way, ABC may be reviving it.

Deadline reported on Tuesday that the show could be back as early as midseason, but a deal will have to be made as soon as possible. Most of the show’s cast and crew are already working on other projects, including showrunner Evan Katz, who is executive producing Fox’s 24: Live Another Day.

Body of Proof averaged 11 million viewers and a 2.0 18-49 rating. Plus, the show was inexpensive to make, since it took advantage of California’s tax credit lottery. All that made May’s decision to end it make even less sense. ABC Studios did try to revive it at a cable network (ABC entertainment chief Paul Lee even said that he’d hoped it would find another home), but that never worked out.

TV Guide notes that Delany recently spoke with the Huffington Post, predicting that ABC would regret cancelling it.

“I think we did OK. I think they could've kept us a little bit longer and I think they're going to probably regret it,” she said.

Any of ABC’s new Fall 2013 shows not named Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have been struggling in the ratings so far. Lucky 7 was already cancelled, clearing the Tuesday, 9 p.m. slot. So Body of Proof would have a home if it is revived, but again, the trouble is getting the cast and crew back together on short notice.
