ABC News’ Nightline is undergoing some major changes. Good Morning America weekend anchor Dan Harris has been tapped to co-anchor the network’s late-night news program, while Bill Weir is heading to CNN.
In today’s announcement, ABC News President Ben Sherwood said that Harris will join Dan Abrams and Cynthia McFadden, while still co-anchoring GMA every weekend. Sherwood made note of Harris’ interests, including stories on faith and reporting on vulnerable populations around the world.
Harris has been at ABC News since 2000 and has been co-anchoring GMA on the weekends since 2010.
Meanwhile, the New York Times reports that Weir is moving on to CNN. He has been named the cable network’s chief “innovation correspondent” and will be tasked with covering technological changes around the world.
Weir has already changed his Twitter handle to reflect the move.
All will be revealed soon enough. And I'm really grateful that they are letting me say goodbye on tonight's @Nightline

“Bill’s style is singular; his voice unique; and we will miss him and, yes, his turkey frying safety tips,” Sherwood said today. “I know you all will join me in thanking him for his contributions and wishing him the best.”
Weir began as Nightline co-anchor in 2010.
