Amber Tamblyn will be more than just a guest star on CBS’ Two and a Half Men. The former House actress, who has been cast as Charlie Harper’s long-lost daughter, has been promoted to series regular.
Tamblyn got the gig in August. She plays Jenny, the lesbian daughter of Charlie Sheen’s character. She has relocated to Los Angeles in order to pursue an acting career. Tamblyn initially signed on for just five episodes.
However, she will now take over the “Half Man” part of the show’s title, now that Angus T. Jones was demoted to recurring. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she has been upped to series regular, adding another female character to the male-centric show.
Deadline notes that Tamblyn appears in all but one of Two and Half Men’s first six episodes of season 11. Her character is essentially a female version of Charlie, the character Sheen played before he was fired and replaced by Ashton Kutcher.
“I think it would be great to have a voice on the show from a different perspective,” co-creator Chuck Lorre said that the Television Critics Association Press Tour, notes THR. “The show has had enough testosterone to last a lifetime.”
Two and a Half Men airs on CBS Thursday nights at 9:30 p.m.
