It’s been only a few weeks since viewers of the critically acclaimed AMC hit, Breaking Bad, bid farewell. Anthony Hopkins just finished this weekend, however, and to say he loved it is an understatement. The Welsh actor sang his praises for Bryan Cranston and the rest of the Emmy award winning cast in an email to leading actor.

TIME reports that after Hopkins binged on the entire series in only a few weeks, he reached out to his agent at UTA to get Bryan Cranston’s email. He likened the series, which Cranston both starred in and produced, to “a great Jacobean, Shakespearian or Greek Tragedy.”

The 75-year-old called the meth-related drama “rare” and “epic,” saying that it “restores confidence”. He requested that Cranston pass his admiration onto the rest of the cast, who he calls “the best actors he’s ever seen” as they all gave “master classes of performance.” The letter went viral after Steven Michael Quezada, the actor who played DEA agent Steven Gomez, posted it onto his Facebook page.

There was much speculation that the letter was a hoax, given Hopkins credibility and the extravagant nature of his acclaims. A spokesperson for the actor was able to confirm the letters authenticity to the .

Hopkins knows a thing or two about well-received acting. He won an Academy Award for his outstanding performance in 1991’s The Silence of the Lambs and is widely considered one of the greatest living actors in this time.

Cranston accepted the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmys this August, but we’re sure Hopkins remarks were far more humbling.
