Halloween with the Gannons and The Angles proved to be quite interesting.
The episode starts with Danny running away from a group of bullies, Terry getting a drink thrown on her, and The Cannon acting like a zombie on Halloween.
One day earlier, October 30th, Terry comes enters the living room dressed as Raggedy Ann. The Cannon picks on her and she explains that her and Danny go out trick-or-treating every year as Raggedy Andy and Raggedy Ann and fill up on Abba-Zabas every year. They notice a girl named Keeley Summers who Terry went to high school is on TV. Terry explains that Keeley was awful to her, stole her boyfriends, and got the female athlete award only because Terry couldn’t since she played on the boy’s baseball team. Danny then walks out as Andy and The Cannon suggests that Terry just save some time and let Danny “go beat the crap out of himself.” The Cannon says that when he was younger, “The trick was not getting polio and the treat was to get a job when you were eight years old.” Danny, knowing the costume is ridiculous goes back to change for practice. Terry explains to The Cannon that she wants to keep this Halloween tradition going because so much has changed in the past year for Danny. She asks The Cannon to join them, suggesting that he dress as despair. He tells her he has his own tradition that involves guarding her mother’s gravestone after it was vandalized one Halloween.
Baseball practice is going as unsuccessfully as it always does. Danny repeatedly misses the ball. Finally, when he notices Vanessa watching, he hits it into the outfield. David, Vanessa’s boyfriend, picks on Danny from behind the fence. Terry throws a ball at him to make him stop. Vanessa asks Danny if she can go with him and the team trick-or-treating because David things costumes are stupid. Danny happily says yes. As The Cannon loudly reminds the team that they’re supposed to be running between the bases, Danny asks if he can interrupt his yelling to ask the team a question. Danny asks them if they all want to go trick-or-treating. The boys are a bit weary because David and the “cool kids” are always mean to them. The “cool kids” always take their candy. They even took Michael’s candelabra and “Liberace without a candelabra is just Elvis.” Another kid claims, “I’d kill a man for a bucket of candy. Those kids scare me.” They agree to go and enlist The Cannon for some retaliation advice.
Dick gives Terry a flyer for “Dicktober Awesome Halloween Jam”. As she crinkles it up, he says he was going to go naked with just a bow and be God’s gift to women, but has since decided to go as a cowboy. Terry says she’s not going because she spends Halloween with Danny. Keeley Summers walks over and begins throwing underhanded insults at Terry. Dick points out that Terry has a kid, is divorced, lives with her father, and works at the pizza place. Keeley comments that Terry has been making poor life decisions since 1997. As Keeley walks away, Dick comments to Terry that he wouldn’t want to compete with Keeley either because she’s perfect. Terry tells Dick to suck up and informs him she’ll be attending the party. She walks over to get out of trick-or-treating with Danny, who suggests they each hang out with their own friends for Halloween.
Terry arrives at Lulu’s dressed as Raggedy Ann. Michael opens the door and says, “Somebody’s here to milk our cows we don’t have.” He tells Terry not to worry because his mom can work magic. When Lulu enters she asks, “It’s Halloween, darling. Where are your breasts?” Terry tells Lulu about Keeley and vows to take her down.
The Cannon takes flowers from other graves and places them on his wife Caroline’s grave. The headstone of the woman next to her has a longer description than Caroline’s, which infuriates The Cannon. When James (the widower of Caroline’s grave neighbor) arrives donning his brass knuckles, The Cannon asks him if he thinks his wife is better than Caroline.
The team, dressed in their Angles uniforms and Halloween make-up meet up for trick-or-treating.
Keeley arrives to the party wearing a long purple princess gown. Terry enters wearing a short and sassy princess costume. Dick’s only reaction to Terry is, “Wow!” Keeley tells Terry she looks so much better than yesterday and Terry replies that Keeley looks the same. Lulu informs Terry that her boob tape will only last until midnight and avert that her “little pumpkins are coming out.” Keeley then tosses a drink on Terry to ruin her outfit. Terry and Keeley are about to fight when Dick suggests they go head-to-head in his party competitions.
At the graveyard, The Cannon is still complaining about the gravestone. The two begin comparing their wives and The Cannon claims that “nobody had a better ass than this girl right here,” as he points to Caroline’s grave. The two continue to compare their dead wives.
After some successful trick-or-treating, The Angles sit down to enjoy the fruits of their labor. One kid says he’s going to see how much he can eat before his kidneys fail and another is excited to eat candy because his mom never lets him. The twins announce the “cool kid” alert and David and his bully friends walk over. David comments that he can’t believe Vanessa would hang out with the nerdy Angles. She tells him not to be a jerk and leave them alone. David asks who is going to stop them and one of The Angles says, “Certainly not Superman,” as they look up to the sky hoping to be saved. Danny says he will stop them and then throws an egg at David before running.
Back at Dick’s party, Terry wins the first contest of eating food off of a string. Keeley wins the second part, which is a mummy wrapping contest.
Danny is running from the David and his goons. He gets to the school and hooks himself to a wire. After luring them in, some of The Angles lock David and his goons in a caged area, while the rest of the team tries to hoist Danny to the roof. They almost drop him, but Vanessa saves arrives on the roof just in time to help.
At the cemetery, James and The Cannon are still comparing their wives. They then tell each other how each passed. They bond over missing their wives. James admits that he added the words to make The Cannon angry because he didn’t like him before tonight. The Cannon hands him a beer and they toast, “Here’s to girls with great asses.”
Danny gives the bullies an ultimatum. He tells them they’ll let them go if they agree to stop teasing The Angles. If they don’t agree, they’re going to get egged, “We have about a thousand eggs up here and we all need pitching practice.” The bullies refuse and The Angles begin egging them. Vanessa tells David she’s cutting him loose then kisses a surprised Danny on the cheek.
Back at Dicktober, the final event of the competition is and apple bullseye. Keeley throws her apple and hits outside of the bullseye. As Terry is about to throw, Danny interrupts. He excitedly tells her about everything that happened that night. He informs her he found a house passing out Abba-Zabas and asks if she wants to go get some with him before they run out. Terry happily agrees to go. When Keeley comments about her forfeiting, Terry tells her how happy she is to have Danny and would be willing to give up the competition to trick-or-treat with her son. As she exits, Terry turns around and throws the apple at the board. She hits the bullseye.
The Cannon and James hear teenagers. It’s David and his bully friends. James says, “It’s butt kicking time.” The Cannon and James put barbecue sauce on their faces and pretend to be zombies as The Cannon raises his bat to scare the boys away. The men agree that they can’t wait another year before they hang out again.
