The latest episode of Back in the Game has The Cannon trying to sabotage Terry’s new relationship while also teaching Danny one of his classic lessons.
The boys continue to miss pitch after pitch. Even though they’ve been batting for two hours, The Cannon tells them they’re going to continue until at least one of them hits it to the outfield. Apparently the other teams know The Angles can’t hit into the outfield so they usually play nine positions in just the infield. Meanwhile, Terry and Lulu are watching the male eye candy working out all around them. Terry tells Lulu she’s interested in the liquor rep from the pizza place named Jack. Lulu encourages her to ask him out. Terry says, “I haven’t asked a guy out since I got pregnant and said, ‘Hey maybe we should go out and talk.’” Lulu adjusts her “ladies” and walks toward Jack to ask him out for herself. Terry stops Lulu and decides to talk to Jack. Unfortunately, Jack is working with Dick. Terry and Dick trade their usual insults before Terry and Jack step away to chat. She asks him out and Jack says yes. As Jack walks away, The Cannon asks what’s going on. Terry tells him it’s none of his “damn business.” He then asks her how many kids they started practice with. When she answers twelve, he says, “so not eight?”
While Terry is finalizing date plans with Jack over the phone, The Cannon picks up the phone and ruins the conversation. After he hangs up, The Cannon asks Danny, “What’s the matter? You’ve got a face on your face.” Danny tells him that another kid cheated off of his test in class. The Cannon asks him if he did anything about it and Danny admits that he didn’t. Terry enters and asks The Cannon to take Danny to get new shoes. The Cannon tells her that doesn’t sound like anything he wants to do. He concedes and says, “I will straighten Danny boy out.” She informs them she’s going to be late because she has a date. Danny is fine with it, but The Cannon doesn’t approve. Terry claims that he never liked any guy she brought home. She says that he hit a guy she was dating with a car. The Cannon claims it was a bump.
Getting ready for her date, Terry asks if her dress makes her look like she doesn’t normally sleep with someone on the first date, but is willing to. Lulu asks if Bush was still around the last time she dated. Terry says Obama was in office. Lulu hilariously replies that she wasn’t talking about the president. She also tells Terry to round the number of men she’s been with down. When Terry tells her she’s only been with two men, she tells her to round up.
The first date has Terry telling Jack about living with her dad, being divorced, and having a son. He says that despite her inability to edit herself and her baggage, he’s interested in her.
Meanwhile, at Syd’s Sportswear, Danny is trying on shoes. He finds a pair that he likes, but tells The Cannon they are expensive. The Cannon tells him he’s going to keep his head up, remain confident, and walk out wearing the shoes. Danny questions, “You mean steal them?” The Cannon replies, “I mean go. I don’t want you to get arrested.” Danny successfully walks out wearing the shoes.
At home, The Cannon tells Danny, “You can beat security with a fork and a magnet,” as he takes the security tag off of the shoes. He then explains to Danny that it’s cheap to make the shoes so they shouldn’t have a lot of money for them anyway.
Terry and Jack kiss goodnight outside. They both wish the date didn’t have to end. Terry questions why he brought her home then. He says he was trying to be a gentleman. He suggests they could go somewhere, but The Cannon starts yelling from inside the house. His yelling includes, “No one is going anywhere,” “I’m getting a bat, “ “..an AK47,” “..a bomb. I’m going to blow your ass up.” Jack leaves and Terry enters the house. The Cannon acts as though he didn’t even know she was home. Terry notices Danny’s new shoes and asks how much they were. Danny rambles awkwardly about them being on sale before going to go do homework. She asks The Cannon if Danny is okay. The Cannon tells her that Danny is upset because she went on a date with a loser. Terry ignores The Cannon’s lies.
Next, The Cannon takes Danny back to Syd’s Sportswear and makes him steal bats by putting them in the legs of his pants and pretending he’s handicapped.
Meanwhile, Terry tells Lulu she didn’t’ sleep with Jack because she was Cannon-blocked. Dick overhears Terry talking to Lulu about wanting to sleep with Jack and decides to join the conversation. He’s wearing a fake mustache, like Jack’s, but claims it’s real. He says he can grow a mustache in one night. He tells Terry she can’t meet up with Jack because she has to work late. She doesn’t buy it. He then fires an employee and says Terry has to work. When that doesn’t stop Terry, he tells Terry she is fired. Lulu replies, “No she’s not, Freddie Mercury.”
Unable to stop Terry, Dick shows up at her house. The Cannon answers the door and rips off Dick’s fake mustache. Dick tells The Cannon that Jack is a bad guy and he doesn’t want to see Terry get hurt because she deserves better. The Cannon warns Dick that if he is lying, “I will end you.” The Cannon decides he’s going to need to get proof. He thanks Dick for getting him the information and promises that the next time he feels like bashing in Dick’s face, he won’t. Dick tells him he needs to work fast because Terry plans on sleeping with Jack that night.
Terry and Jack rent a hotel room. However, they’re plans are interrupted when Hunter, a boy from the baseball team, calls Terry because his parents forgot to pick him up at the library. The Cannon actually paid Hunter to lie in order to stop Jack and Terry. Terry leaves to go pick up Hunter.
Terry arrives home questioning The Cannon about Hunter’s library situation. The Cannon acts as though he doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Knowing The Cannon set her up, she tells him she will be going out again with Jack. She says, “This ain’t over, old man,” as she exits. The Cannon replies, “No it ain’t, jr.”
The Cannon uses some of the boys from the baseball team to help him spy on Jack. They see him meeting with shady guys in alleys. Meanwhile, Terry continues her relationship with Jack.
While The Cannon is making a bat with nail spikes, Danny tells The Cannon he scored a one hundred on his test. The Cannon asks what the kid who cheated got. Danny says that kid also received a one hundred. The Cannon asks him if he feels like crap. Danny says he kind of does. The Cannon then takes Danny to the grocery store and fills his sweatshirt with food to steal. As another customer walks by and sees him doing this, The Cannon holds up his fists naming them Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser. He then says, “You better get outta here before we get mad about you.” Danny tells him he can’t steal anymore because he’s going to have a nervous breakdown and hasn’t pooped in days. The Cannon ignores him, but Danny refuses to continue stealing. The Cannon says good and is glad he is finally standing up for himself. Danny realizes this was all a lesson. The Cannon says, “You’re finally standing up for yourself. That’s what you should have done with that kid. You can’t let anyone take advantage of you.” He tells Danny that they are Gannons and Gannons don’t get taken advantage of.
When Jack comes to pick Terry up at the pizza place, Dick introduces Jack to The Cannon. The Cannon then tries to introduce Jack to his spiked bat. Dick and The Cannon confront Jack about meeting with men in alleys. Jack admits he was meeting the first group because he’s in a recovery program with them. He has been clean for five years. The Cannon calls him a quitter. Jack then explains he met with the second guy to get a game system that Danny wanted. The Cannon then shows video of a hotel door with audio of sex and asks what bimbo he was fooling around with. Terry says it was her. The Cannon and Dick walk away. Terry tells Jack they are finished because she’s never been to that hotel room so he’s obviously been seeing someone else. He claims it’s a part of dating and they never said they were exclusive. He says they’re just having fun. She tells him that when she was younger she would have fell for it. She then says, “The thirty-two-year-old me is just going to do this,” as she knees him in the groin. Before leaving with the gaming system she says, “I’m a Gannon. No one takes advantage of me.” The Cannon proudly watches on.
Danny decides to return his stolen goods, but the clerk at Syd’s Sportswear informs him the items weren’t stolen. The Cannon paid for it before he brought Danny and told the clerk he was teaching his grandson a lesson. The clerk tells Danny he can still return the items and receive credit or cash back. Danny chooses cash and says, “and here ends the lesson.”
