Ben Affleck and friend Matt Damon are joining forces for a half-hour comedy that has landed at CBS. The pilot will star comedian Tom Papa and is currently untitled.

Deadline, which first reported on the project, says that the project will be based on a combination of Papa’s stand-up and Damon’s life experiences. Papa will play a man who gives up his career to spend time with his family, but no one actually wants him around.

The project came about when Papa and Damon worked on the films The Informant and Behind the Candelabra together. They took it to Affleck and then to writers. Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith will co-write the pilot.

According to Variety, Affleck and Damon are producing under their Pearl Street banner. The executive producers are 3 Arts’ Dave Becky and Josh Lieberman, Yuspa and Goldsmith. It will be a 20th Century Fox TV production.

Pearl Street previously secured a pilot commitment for The Middle Man, which landed at Fox. The Boston-set mob drama pilot will be directed by Affleck.

Papa hosted NBC’s The Marriage Ref and has his own Come To Papa series in 2004.
