The Bengals defeat the formerly unbeaten Patriots and end Tom Brady's touchdown streak in the process.
Tom Brady's streak of 52 games with a touchdown pass came to a halt Sunday against a relentless Bengals defense. Brady was taken down for a sack on his first pass attempt, which pretty much set the tone for the game. Brady was sacked four times by the Bengals defense, and the Pats offense was kept out of the end zone on a first and goal from the one in the fourth quarter.
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis was extremely pleased with the defensive effort, so much so, that he gave defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer a game ball after the game according to ESPN.
"That's a great accomplishment," Lewis said. "I don't normally give out game balls, but I gave that one to Zimmer. They played well today. They were tight in coverage most of the day. Upfront, they got after it."
The Associated Press reports that the Patriots had a chance to take back the game when they got the ball back with 1:48 left. Brady was picked off by Adam "Pacman" Jones inside the 5-yard line with 16 seconds left.
