Lifetime announced last week that it is reviving Betty White’s Off Their Rockers and just days later, America’s favorite 90-year-old comedienne is starring in a commercial that parodies Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.” Don’t worry, she’s fully clothed.
NBC had previously cancelled Off Their Rockers in July following its second season. However, last week, The Hollywood Reporter, confirmed that Lifetime revived the show for a third season. It is produced by Kinetic Content and Lifetime had aired off-network repeats.
The show features White introducing footage of seniors pulling hidden camera tricks on the younger crowd.
In a 30-second spot just released for the new season, White is seen swinging from a wrecking ball just like Cyrus, but she is wearing a full outfit. (That’s very different from Hulk Hogan, who didn’t wear much in his parody.)
“Can someone bring me a sledgehammer?” White says at the end, notes E! News. “How about a foam finger?”
Lifetime has a knack for rescuing axed shows. The network also rescued Fox’s America’s Most Wanted before cancelling the show itself. It also picked up Devious Maids, a Marc Cherry pilot ABC passed on. That show did get a second season.
