Cal Ripken Jr.'s mom was threatened at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon when she left an NBRS bank in Aberdeen, Maryland.

According to TMZ, this isn't the first time Violet Ripken has been in this situation – she was robbed at gunpoint in the same area last year.

The man reportedly wanted Ripken's car, but before he took action, she was able to hit the vehicle's panic alarm from her keys, scaring him off.

NBC Sports reports that Ripken, widow of former major league manager Cal Ripken, made it out without a scratch. Officials have arrested a suspect, but it's still unknown whether the abduction was random or if Ripken was sought out.

Last July, Ripken was kidnapped and trapped in a car for 23 hours at gunpoint. Again, she escaped uninjured.

Hall of Famer Cal Jr. will take his place in the TBS booth for Tuesday night's NLCS Game 4 as scheduled.

WTOP reports that the Criminal Investigation Section of the Aberdeen Police Department is still asking people with information to call with their stories.
