Case Keenum will be the quarterback for the Houston Texans this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Sunday Keenum will be making his first regular-season appearance. He will be filling in for Matt Schaub who is out due to ankle and foot injuries. Keenum is the Texan’s third-string quarterback. For the first six games of the season he was inactive, and backup quarterback T.J. Yates replaced Schaub when he got injured, according to ESPN. Keenum, who has only played in preseason games since college, is excited about playing on Sunday.
"It is real," Keenum said. "I have to pinch myself every now and then. It's exciting. It's what I want. It's what I've wanted for a long time."
Keenum was on the Texans practice squad last year. Before that he was a record-setting quarterback at the University of Houston. In 2011 he led the University of Houston to a 12-0 start, before losing the Conference USA championship game. Keenum holds the NCAA record for total yards (20,114), yards passing (19,217), passing touchdowns (155), and total touchdowns (178), according to the Associated Press.
The Texans are 2-4 on the season and have lost four games in a row. They hope that Keenum can break their losing streak and get them back on track.
