CBS put in full season orders for its three remaining freshman comedies, The Crazy Ones with Robin Williams; Mom with Anna Faris; and The Millers with Will Arnett.
“We’re proud of CBS’s leadership position in comedy and excited to build on it with the back nine pick-ups of these three new comedies,” CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler said in a statement. “These series are creatively distinct, continue to improve each week and are led by strong showrunners, writing and production staffs, and feature amazingly talented casts.”
The Crazy Ones is the top-rated new comedy of the season, averaging 13.71 million viewers and a 3.6 18-49 rating, the network said. It has no trouble beating the sitcom competition at NBC in the Thursday, 9 p.m. slot. The series stars Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar as a father-daughter team running an ad agency.
Mom is a new comedy from Chuck Lorre, the co-creator of The Big Bang Theory. It airs on Mondays at 9:30 p.m. and has been averaging 7.98 million viewers and a 2.6 18-49 rating.
The Millers is taking full advantage of The Big Bang Theory as its lead-in. It has averaged 12.41 million viewers and a 3.2 rating in the key demo. It stars Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale as Arnett’s parents.
CBS has only one blemish this season so far, the comedy We Are Men, which lasted just two episodes. As a result, CBS has shifted its Monday lineup and Mike & Molly will get an early start in November.
